House Entry Door

Introduction: When deciding on a new house entry door for your home you need to choose wisely. Your house entry door is the first impression people have of your home, so you need to choose them well. Your house entry door front is the focus of your home when seen from the driveway or street.

Because your house entry door is always exposed to the weather it can look old before their time. Older homes used wood entry doors because this was the material that people wanted because it looked natural and gave a warm feeling. The problem is that wooden doors are very susceptible to weather damage.
Modern day entry doors are quite different. Builders today use a variety of different types of entry doors. There is every type and size you can imagine available. Some are made of wood, and others are made of fiberglass, and fiberglass and steel combinations. For the most part today’s entry doors are manufactured and sold as an entry system that includes side light windows. This means that the door is already pre hung in a frame, and includes weather stripping all around the door and side lights. Most of these doors even come with locksets and decorative hinges.
Modern material for entry doors is made to appears to be wood but is not really a wood door. Even many modern wood doors have steel interiors and most doors, whether wood or steel, have some sort of foam insulation giving them a higher insulating factor than a solid wood door.
Entry doors, whether wood or non wood, come in two types: paneled or flush. Paneled doors have rectangular recesses in the door. This type of door was designed so the wood would not warp or crack. Flush doors have a flat and smooth surface. The flat panel doors very often have glass panels that substitute the rectangular woodened panels.

The design of your house entry doors directly influences the way a room or an entry hall looks and in some way may affect the overall look of the entire home. That’s why when you are choosing an entry door you should look at some type of panel door because they look like they have been finely crafted. A flush panel door looks very functional but has no style. Although a paneled entry door will cost a little more than a flushed door it adds character to the home.

When choosing your front entry door you need to take several factors into consideration. You should choose your entry door based on your personal taste, cost, functionality, and durability. Don’t buy a very expensive front entry door for your home if you are going to have to replace it in a few years. Like many things in your home your house entry door should be a well thought out decision.
