Essential Power Tools for DIY Homeowners

DIY Home Improvement Powered Tools

Introduction:

Having the appropriate powered tools readily available to perform DIY home improvement projects will determine if your efforts will be successful or not. There are several home improvement powered tools that are absolutely essential otherwise the DIY homeowner won’t be able to do the project at all or the quality of the finished project will be less that professional.

Not only are the right tools necessary to complete a project they are also necessary to perform household routine maintenance and preventive maintenance tasks.

By having the right power tools available you are more certain of a successful outcome of your project and have it looking like a professional did the job. You cannot complete a remodeling project or home addition without the right tools. The following powered tool suggestions are offered as the minimum essential power tools for DIY homeowners.
  • A cordless drill and screwdriver is one of the most valuable tools for any DIY home tool box. It is a near necessity for putting up shelves, hanging pictures, installing decking and just about any other drilling and screw requirement. A cordless drill and screwdriver is also one of the most handy home improvement tools.
  • In addition to the cordless drill and screwdriver a ¾ or a ½ power drill is just as important to have in your tool box as the cordless drill.
  • A power circular saw is an absolute must. The days of the old hand saw are just about over. A standard circular saw (skill saw) can be used for a number of wood cutting tasks.
  • A powered miter saw is necessary for doing any kind of trim work where angles are involved. Either the sliding miter or the fix miter saw will do the job.
  • Powered sanders, both a belt sander and an orbital sander will save you a lot of time when sanding is required.
  • Table saws are essential for shop projects and making special wood cuts. They are available as portable or non-portable models.

All these powered tools can be purchased from any home improvement supply center or purchased on line. When purchasing these tools always purchase quality tools that have a reputation for long and reliable service. You don’t need to purchase the most expensive, but you don’t want to purchase the least expensive either.
