Garage and Workshop Pegboard Storage

Introduction:

Garage and workshop pegboard storage can provide easy and inexpensive storage space for tools. If you are tired of a clumsy looking garage or shop where tools are stored but can’t be located, pegboard storage may be the solution for reorganizing them. Pegboards come as either tempered hardboard panels or metal sheets. Heavy duty metal pegboards can support several hundred pounds of weight. Pegboard display.jpg

Harwood panels:

  • Hardboard panels are ¼ inch thick and feature ¼ inch diameter holes that are evenly spaced one inch apart across the face of the entire sheet. Hardboard pegboard panels are easy to cut into custom shapes for fitting odd shaped areas.

  • Hardboard pegboard comes in standard 4x8-foot sizes. They are commonly available in black and white colors and can be repainted with a latex paint.

Metal pegboards:

  • Metal pegboard sheets come in several types of metals and weights. Some feature slots rather than holes to accommodate specialized accessories such as bins and shelves. Metal pegboard sheets are durable and the perforations never lose their shape. Properly installed heavy duty metal pegboards can support very heavy items.

  • Metal pegboard sheets come in different patterns and smooth finishes, and in a variety of colors. Standard sheet sizes are the same as hardboard.

Pegboard accessories kits:

Standardized perforated pegboards accept a wide range of hooks, clips, shelves, bins, racks, jars, and other storage accessories that can be arranged and rearranged to suit your needs.

How and where to use pegboards:

  • Garage workshop storage: Behind the workbench or on any wall, pegboard organizes tools, measuring tapes, lawn maintenance gear, sporting goods, fishing equipment, and more.

  • Laundry room: Specialized racks, shelves, and bins hold the ironing board and iron, as well as clothespins and other wash day supplies.

  • Workshop storage: Power tools, extension cords, and hand tools are some of the goods you might want to organize here.

Installing garage and workshop pegboard storage panels is a great way to organize your work area and your tools. The accessory kits that consist of hooks, clips, shelves, bins, and small racks easily fit in the perforated panels and can be relocated as your needs change.
