New Year Resolutions

So you made another New Year resolution.  Again this year you may be thinking about getting in shape; losing a few pounds, acquiring a better diet or giving up a bad habit. A lot of us make these promises to ourselves every year but for a number of reasons they just do not happen. That is primarily because we really don’t make a solid commitment or our promise is not managed with specific goal achievement objectives. Here are a few easy steps to help you achieve your goal.

  1. Be specific.

  2. State exactly what you want to achieve, and the length of time you need to achieve it. If there is not an exact and specific goal you won’t know when you reach it.

  3. Make it measurable.

  4. Choose an objective or goal that will have measurable results. If you don’t measure it, it probably won’t happen.

  5. Insure that your goal is attainable.

  6. Determine if your goal is reasonable and within your capabilities.

  7. Is your goal relevant. Is your goal relevant to you, your health, and within your capabilities.

  8. Establish a time limit for success.

Plan a series of small goals or steps that build on each other. Setting several short term tasks that collectively make up your goal will be measurable and provide a step by step process to achievement. If you don’t think you are in good health it’s time for you to do something about it.  If you follow these guide lines you just may make this New Year’s resolution a success. Hey, it’s worth a try

Have a happy and healthy new year.
