How to Maintain Good Health

Treadmill Workout

Introduction:

We all need a regular routine of exercise to maintain good health. Many people get their exercise through the type of work they do such as construction workers or farmers. Because of their regular daily activities they don’t require an additional exercise routine to stay physically fit. If we are not engaged in this type of work we do need a regular exercise routine.

What ever your age may be; child, young adult or senior citizen, you need daily exercise to maintain good health.

Approximately 60% of the population is engaged in a sedimentary life style of work and entertainment. In short, these people spend the majority of their time sitting on their duffs. The best all around exercise can be obtained by walking and jogging.

Walking and jogging can do wonders for your physical fitness and general health. You don’t need any special equipment or facility to walk and jog, except for a good pair of tennis shoes. Most walkers and joggers do their exercise routine in parks or along public streets and roads. Most anywhere you travel in the world you see walkernauts and joggernauts performing their routine at anytime of the day. Unfortunately the weather is not agreeable for these outside activities and that is where a treadmill becomes important.

A treadmill is an excellent home exercise machine for both walking and jogging. Other home exercise machines such as an elliptical are also great exercise machines but not everyone can do an elliptical workout do to physical constraints. But a treadmill can be used by just about everyone for walking or jogging. Walking and jogging is the best around exercise routine to get into shape and keep in shape. Both these routines are aerobic exercises. In general, aerobic exercises are relatively low intensity of prolong duration as opposed to anaerobic which is strength training by stretching muscles using weights.

You don’t have to join a gym or physical fitness center to exercise on a treadmill. A treadmill can be purchased in any sports shop and range from the very expensive to inexpensive. You do not need to purchase a $10k tread mill. Treadmills that sell for under $1k are entirely adequate to meet most people needs for walking and jogging.  There are a wide range of types and styles to choose from that include electronic packages that indicate distance, rate of speed and calories burned during a walking or jogging routine. Some of these treadmills fold in such a fashion that they can fit under a bed or stand against a wall when not in use.

These are great for people who live in an apartment or condominium. Many people that walk and jog for their exercise routine use treadmills during inclement weather and parks, public streets and roads during good weather.

Thirty to forty five minutes is sufficient to complete an adequate workout on a treadmill. If you are a treadmill beginner, it’s advisable to start with a briefer period and build up to a longer period over several weeks. Three to four sessions a week is recommended for most people to get in shape and maintain good health.

If you are concerned about maintain good health, I recommend that you consider a home treadmill for your exercise routine.
