Cordless String Trimmers

String Trimmers

Introduction:

As summer comes upon us again most homeowners are busy tending to their lawns and gardens. It’s time to sharpen up the lawn mower blades and get out the power trimmer, either electric or gas powered. Or maybe an electric cordless string trimmer.

Long before these string power trimmers came into existence we did the trimming with hand operated trimming sheers or sickles. Because it was so much work over and above mowing the lawn we probably didn’t do as much trimming as we should have.

Approximately four decades ago the string trimmer became available that greatly facilitated doing the trimming in those places the lawn mower couldn’t get to. There were basically two types of string trimmers, the electric and small gasoline engine. They really work great and there was no slacking when it came to trimming the grass and even cutting weeds in areas where you would never take a lawnmower.

The electric string trimmer was particularly handy because it was quiet. The down side was that you had to string out many feet of extension cord to reach most of the areas you wanted to trim. The small gasoline engine trimmer was equally handy but it was very noisy and required mixing oil with the gas as they are all two cycle engines. As such they are very noisy because they run at a very high speed. In addition they are somewhat smoky and the noise is very annoying for the neighbors.

In recent times the cordless string trimmer has become available. It embodies the best parts of both the old electric string trimmer and the small engine string trimmer. They are extremely quiet, which is an attribute that pleases the neighbors.

The cordless string trimmer is lightweight and simple to use. Many types even feature automatic spool feeds that enable you to work without needing to continuously adjust or restring the strings. The best string trimmers have specialized guards which are excellent for doing work in the vicinity of gardens and flowerbeds.

A big benefit of a cordless string trimmer is that it enables you to work with a variety of different lawns and yards whether you are just providing your lawn with some finishing touches or you are trimming numerous lawns each day as a skilled landscaper. This also permits you to trim densely wooded regions and mowing down weeds or patches of long grass as well as edging sidewalks and driveways.

The greatest advantage of that the cordless string trimmer over the small gasoline engine trimmer is there is no more mixing of oil and gasoline. They are considerably quieter with no smelly smoke exhaust and are more effective. They operate on batteries which when fully charged last a long time. They are rechargeable an only take approximately thirty minutes to full recharge.

I recommend this summer that you consider a cordless string trimmer to trim your lawn and gardens. They are a great product.
