Chain Link Fencing

Introduction:

Chain link fencing is one of the most popular perimeter fencing methods used for residential and commercial applications. They are easy to build, cost effective and long lasting.

Chain link fencing is usually made from galvanized steel wires. The wires spread vertically and are formed into a zigzag position so that all the zips hook onto the wire directly on one side and all the zaps hook onto the wire directly on the other side. This makes up the typical diamond shape seen in chain link fencing. There are different sizes of fencing to choose from.

Chain link fencing is popular because it is relatively cost effective and is easy to install. Chain link fencing adds an added advantage because of its open weave. Chain link fencing has the appearance of being transparent and do not stop sunlight from either side of the fencing. It does provide a partial wind barrier.

Making a choice of chain link fencing is not as easy as it was in the past. This older conventional chain link fencing was made of entirely galvanized steel. Now chain link fencing is available in many different colors and weights to suit the needs of homeowners and industry. Fuse bonding, powder coating and vinyl coating are the types in use to provide chain links in different sizes, colors and strengths. This makes the new chain link fencing a more practical alternative for locations that require style as well as security and longevity.

The four components of a chain link fence are the framework, fabric, fitting and gates. Framework includes the posts as well as the supports to attach the fabric. Fabric is the diamond shape steel wire mesh that forms the fence. The fabric is held to the framework by fittings. Gates are placed at various points to enter and exit the area within the fence.

Fence post and gates come in different sizes, styles, and shapes to suit your needs. The fabric or diamond shape steel wire comes in different gauge sizes and can be finished in either a bright finished galvanize steel or it can have a colored vinyl finish. A vinyl chain link fence stands up well to moisture and other weather deteriorating elements.

Chain link fences are often used around swimming pools as a security fence. Property owners with animals also use chain link fencing to coral dairy cows, horses, and pets such as dogs. As opposed to wooden fencing, chain link fencing cost is less expensive, easy to maintain, and will last for decades.
