How to Prevent Remodeling DustPreventing Dust While Remodeling
Introduction: Usually when performing DIY home improvement remodeling projects a lot of dust is created leaving you with a big clean up job. Unfortunately when remodeling you must tear down before you can rebuild and this creates dust. If you don’t contain the dust it makes a mighty big mess that requires a lot of clean-up work after the work is complete. Here's is how to prevent remodeling dust. Prep the work site by establishing a dust barrier using plastic sheathing. Firmly staple the plastic in place or use masking tape to secure the barrier to an adjoining wall. The barrier will contain the dust to the work area which will prevent you from having to clean up the whole house when the work is complete. If a lot of dust is going to be created from ripping out old sheet rock walls apply a light coat of water mist to the floor to keep down the dust in the work area. This will keep the dust in the air to a minimum permitting work to continue without gagging on the dust. If necessary, wear a face dust mask. Keep the dust barrier in place until any work that creates dust is completed. Once the work is completed carefully remove the dust barrier by folding the dusty side of the plastic to the inside and remove it from the work area. Once it is removed from the work area the dust can be cleaned permitting you to reuse the plastic material again. If the work area becomes too dark for work to continue safely set up pole work lights in the work area to function as work lights. That is how to prevent remodeling dust in the house during remodeling. It will save you a great deal of cleanup work after the project is completed.
