Cedar Siding Cost
Cedar Siding
Overview: Cedar siding prices vary according to your geographic location. For the most part cedar siding is used by builders in home construction in the northern areas of the country. Most building material suppliers and home improvement supply center carry cedar siding. However, in the southern regions cedar siding is not as frequently used and therefore is not a standard stocked material.
Most suppliers can get it but they have to special
order it which means the cost is going to much
higher. The best place to preview cedar siding cost
is on the internet. You not only can determine the
best price but which suppliers sell it in your
area.
Cedar siding prices should be checked in the state
where you live as each state will quote a different
price due the cost transportation. If you are
intending to install your own cedar siding as a DIY
project your cost may be a little higher than what
a siding contractor cost will be.
It isn’t unusual that an established
contractor price will probably be cheaper than what
the homeowner can buy it for unless you both are
purchasing it from a home improvement supply center
such as The Home Depot or Lowe’s.
Cedar siding is an excellent choice of siding
because of its durability, affordability and is
cost effective when compared to many other siding
options. It still remains the most popular siding
used in home construction in the northern regions
of the country. Other siding material such as vinyl
siding is also popular but it just does not have
the traditional wood appearance of cedar siding.
Cedar siding can be purchased in two different
types; solid unprimed or finger jointed primed.
Fingered jointed prime is the best choice because
it is approximately 20% cheaper and saves you a lot
of time priming it before installation or after.
Cedar siding prices fluctuate depending on the
market demands and supplier availability. Always
try to purchase cedar siding when it is the lowest
price.
The best price will probably be from a regular
siding contractor that purchases many thousands of
board feet from his supplier every year and can get
it a lot cheaper than you can. See more DIY construction Projects and Ideas |
