How to Get a Good Night Sleep

Choosing the Best Mattress

Introduction:

I recently purchased a new bed and mattress as I seemed to be getting a poor night sleep. The old mattress was thirty five years old and seemed to be in good condition. Little did I realize that the old mattress had long lost the comfort to get a restful night’s sleep.

A good night's rest is a priceless pleasure. Choosing the right mattress can make a difference in your nightly rest and can be purchased for a reasonable price.  For anyone who is fed up with being restless, getting out of bed throughout the night, or even stumbling out of bed each morning stiff, painful, and tired, your current mattress could be the issue. Comfort is the primary factor in obtaining good rest, and sleeping on a good mattress is just about the most effective way to guarantee an improved night’s sleep.

To start with, figure out the reason why your current mattress is no longer comfortable. It may be too soft or sagging from age. If it is, take immediate action to replace it and start resting better as well as getting out of bed refreshed. The average mattress should be replaced approximately every 10 years.

The body adjusts as we grow older and so do mattress requirements need to adjust to support our body changes. The older you are the more additional support you need and a worn out mattress does not provide the correct support.

If you're concerned that a firm or extra firm mattress might be too hard consider one that has a pillow top or some other cushioning on top of the mattress. A cushion top will provide softness you'll need for comfort without getting a mattress that's too soft to provide the support you need.

There are many kinds of mattresses available that provide excellent support such as the open coil, the vacuum packed and the memory foam mattress. The best way to select one is to visit a furniture store and lay down on the mattress that you are considering. Don't be inhibited, that's why showrooms exist. There isn't any better method to determine if a mattress is comfortable other than laying down on it. Lie in different positions; on your back, your stomach, and your side. You will immediately recognize the difference between your mattress and a new mattress. Take your time and get in your normal resting position and remain in that position for at least ten minutes to determine the comfort of the mattress. Remember that the best mattress is one that you are comfortable on.

Most modern mattresses do not have coiled springs. They are made of high density foam that provides excellent comfort and durability. Modern mattresses that do contain springs are of a different design than the older spring mattresses. The springs are in individual pockets deep within the mattress and covered with several inches of high density foam quilting. Modern design mattresses provide the maximum in comfort and durability however they are not inexpensive.

The price of a good quality modern mattress will run between $1200 and $2,000 and up, depending on the size. They are well worth the price as a good mattress can make a difference in getting a restful night sleep and allow you to wake up refreshed.
