Replacing Kitchen Cabinet Hardware

Introduction:

Okay, so your kitchen looks tired and a little boring and you don’t know what to do about it other than spending a lot of money for a complete new kitchen cabinet suit. Don’t despair; there is a much less expensive way to freshen up and update your kitchen cabinet. And if you intend to sell your home in the near future there is nothing like a fresh looking kitchen to attract the attention of a potential buyer.

A fresh looking kitchen attracts potential buyers more than just a beautiful kitchen. Some homeowners looking for a fast sale go to great expense replacing kitchen cabinets before putting their house on the market. The cost of new kitchen cabinets can easily run from $25,000 to $30,000 and the expense doesn’t always translate into higher home value.

Remodeling the kitchen cabinets may be the right approach on how to update your kitchen cabinets and stay within a reasonable budget. Remodeling is money well spent, whether you intend to sell your home or continue to stay in it for a few more years.  The easiest and quickest way to remodel your kitchen is by replacing cabinet hardware.

If your cabinets are in overall good condition you can freshen up their appearance and give new life to a tired looking kitchen by replacing the door hinges and kitchen cabinet knobs and pulls.

There are a great variety of hardware styles to choose from that will be appropriate for any kitchen. You can replace the hardware on a typical set of kitchen cabinets with new handles and hinges for under $300. And the best part is that you can do it yourself in a few hours using common tools found around the house.

Before you installing new hardware, thoroughly scrub the cabinets with a solution of one part dish soap to two parts warm water and a citrus-base wood cleaner Use a sponge or a green scrubbing pad but not steel wool which will scratch the cabinets finish. Then apply a coat of furniture paste wax and buff using a soft cotton cloth.

This is an economic way of how update your kitchen cabinets. You will be surprised at the results and it will cost you far less than replacing the cabinets.
