How to Choose Kitchen Colors
Choosing Kitchen Color Combinations
Introduction:
Choosing kitchen paint
colors is a tough task, especially if you are
expecting too much from a single color. Using more
than one color (at least two) in different
combinations will really give your kitchen a
completely new look that you will enjoy and be
proud to show off. There really is no need to have
a dreary one paint color kitchen when there so many
different color combinations to work with.
Colors for the kitchen should be decided before
buying kitchen appliances, furniture and kitchen
cabinets. The colors of the whole home matters a
lot in creating a more comfortable and peaceful
environment and so it is with the kitchen. Kitchen
is the area where housewives spend a great deal of
their time.
Kitchens are also the only room where you
end up with the whole family regularly to share the
meal. Therefore be warm and welcoming. Below are
some suggestions on how to choose kitchen colors
and different color combinations for your kitchen.
Warm Colors and Soft Colors
Warm colors bring a friendly atmosphere. Warm
colors are orange, lemon, yellow, pink and red.
Soft colors
are green, pearl gray and taupe. Accent these soft
colors with more flashy colors in gradation shades
or completely the opposite of those colors. You can
use the combination of warm and soft colors if your
dining table is placed just in front of the open
kitchen.
Black and White
I am not a fan of black and white for kitchen but
some homeowners see this combination as chic.
Actually this combination is cold and impersonal.
If you choose black and white you should consider
complimenting them with lemon or another warm
color.
Purple and Gray
Purple and gray colors or a silver combination with
these, blend perfectly as cold colors.
Green and Blue
Green and blue are the tranquility colors. They are
side by side on the color wheel, so they are called
"consistent" and combine very well as part of an
overall kitchen decorating scheme. Because they are
cold colors the blue and green colors are better
used in kitchens facing south or west where they
receive plenty of light.
Blue and Gray
Blue is a color that goes well with any grays. Navy
blue, sky blue, indigo blue, and the complete range
of blues work as a great combination with grays.
This combination is particularly suitable for a
kitchen with touches of deep blue.
Good luck choosing kitchen colors!
